This song is another one along the theme of the exclusivity of Jesus Christ. I decided to make a list of all the negatives I don’t need, then leave the chorus as the conclusion for the only thing I really need. This is another gospel ragtime song I wrote on the guitar, and recorded it on my Freedom Flight album. The song is sort of a pied-piper song, the longer I sing it, the more people in the streets join in to sing. Larry Norman and Randy Stonehill (and a few other cast of characters we pulled in) are singing the background responses to the question: “What do ah need?” Larry was one of the producers and did not want a pure perfect harmony choir sound, but a more raucous sound of people who got recruited, and got all excited to join in, whether they could sing or not sing. So this rendered the song all the more believable and dramatic. I hope one day to have it sung in my Broadway Musical “Unemployment.”
If I bet my life in a gamblin' casino
I could retire at twenty-one and live in Encino
But I don't live by the toss of the dice
Or set my estate in any earthly paradise
The wicked witch tried to steal my soul
And melt my brain with mind control
My only objection to Astral Projection
Is you're not gettin' me into the demon's possession
BA DA UM BA UM DOODLE UM BAH UM BOO BAH
BA DA UM BA UM DOODLE UM BAH UM BOO BAH
'Cause What do ah need?
WHAT DO AH NEED
ALL I NEED IS JESUS
