The idea behind this song was to show that we should not forsake the assembling of one another, but we should fellowship, break bread, and have communion regularly. It is on the same theme as my song, “Your Local Church Welcomes You” that I wrote for the National Episcopal Foundation as a Public Service ad on national television to encourage people to attend church. But I didn’t want the whole song to be so somber, so made the beginning more bouncy. I wrote this song on the piano.
WELL A SELF MADE MAN IS A LONELY MAN
SPENDS HIS LIFE DOIN' THE BEST HE CAN
TRYIN' TO FIND HIMSELF
WELL A SELF MADE MAN IS A LONELY MAN
SPENDS HIS LIFE DOIN' THE BEST HE CAN
TRYIN' TO FIND HIMSELF
Doesn't he know that he can't make it on his own worth
He's missing the fullest blessing of his time here on earth
Doesn't he know that he doesn't have to hide anymore
He'll be welcome in a way that he's never known before

I later produced a Big Band instrumental version of this song, click here
