This song was inspired by the idea of the Harvest as it is described in Scripture. It is an invitation song with a warning. I wrote this on my6 steel string Martin D-35. But I invite you to hear my very good friend David L. Chase's arrangement and perform on piano with voice, at the bottom of this page. I grew up with David, and am honored that he put this song on his own album. He is a concert pianist and teacher. Here is his website:

Daylight is fading, the field hands are leaving
Their days' chores seem to be done
But the brown up-turned earth is still waiting
For a few more seeds from the Son
....
The Sickle is poised to thrust its blade
To gather the Elect from the four winds
Every grain is carefully weighed
For the Harvest is coming to an end
